FreshlyDried Cranberry

About our Superfruit Cranberry:

Cranberries are evergreen shrubs or vines found in cooler regions of the Northern Hemisphere. There are different species, with Vaccinium oxycoccos in Europe and Vaccinium macrocarpon in North America. They have small leaves, and dark pink flowers, and produce berries that turn red when ripe. Cranberries are mainly cultivated in the United States, Canada, and Chile, and are used to make juice, sauce, jam, and dried cranberries. They have an acidic taste and are often served with turkey during holiday meals. The United States, Canada, and Chile account for 97% of global cranberry production.

The cranberry gets its name from the Middle Low German word kraanbere, which means cranberry. This name was first used in English by missionary John Eliot in 1647. German and Dutch colonists in New England later used the word cranberry to describe the plant's expanding flower, stem, calyx, and petals, which resemble the neck, head, and bill of a crane. In Europe, the plant is more commonly known as Vaccinium Oxycoccos or fen berry, named after the small red berries found in fenlands in England.

Cranberries are grown on acid soils with a layer of sand, mainly in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Washington, and Oregon. Harvesting takes place from September to October by flooding the fields and scooping the floating fruits. The American cranberry is the most commercially important species, with round or pear-shaped berries ranging from pink to dark red. The small-fruited cranberry is found in marshy land in northern regions. Other fruits, such as the lingonberry and southern cranberry, are also known as cranberries. The fruit of the cranberry tree is sometimes used as a substitute. Most cranberry products are consumed in the US and Canada.

You need to know the benefits of cranberry:

Cranberries contain antioxidants that contribute to overall health in various ways.

They promote urinary tract health by preventing bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract walls.

Phytonutrients found in cranberries play a crucial role in preventing urinary tract infections.

The acidic nature of cranberries makes them useful in relieving muscle pain when consumed in moderation, while also having potential cholesterol-lowering effects, reducing both bad LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol levels.

Regular consumption of cranberry juice can help prevent hair loss and promote thicker, longer hair growth due to its anthocyanin content. Urinary tract infections affect 15 million Americans annually, costing nearly $6 billion each year.

Consuming cranberry products like juice, dried cranberries, or cranberry sauce can significantly reduce the occurrence and financial impact of urinary tract infections.

Cranberries have played a role in traditional treatments for UTIs. The high level of antioxidant proanthocyanidins (PACs) in cranberries may help prevent certain bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract walls. In this way, the PACs in cranberries may help prevent infection.
